If I had a million dollars…I’d be rich (and I’d go to this art auction)
October 24, 2007
Angel Art 2007 is an auction developed by the Creative Artists Agency in Hollywood, California. I found this event online because I periodically peruse Mark Ryden’s site to see if he’s doing anything new. As I’ve mentioned many times, I’m a sucka for big-eyed creatures. Thus, I love anything Mark Ryden does. Overall, the auction list has a number of gems of contemporary and urban art, and the names are all ones to find more about, including Mark Bradford, an LA-based abstract collage artist (for lack of a better phrase). Kim Dingle’s artwork is perfectly described on Wikipedia: “Kim Dingle’s work characteristically depicts stout young girls dressed in patent-leather maryjanes and frilly party dresses that are involved in stereotypically masculine acts full of aggression and violence.” And then there’s Tom Friedman, an artist impossible to keep up with in artistic theme or medium. His contemporary sculptures and installations are what has caught the most attention, but I think this particular auction entry is interesting, as it is an animated film. Anyway, this auction is filled with stars of the contemporary art world, and I’m sure a star or two of the entertainment world will be there to bid. Too bad I have a previous engagement.
Here’s a pic of the Mark Ryden auction entry:
