Japanese invade New York City! MUJI! MUJI!

Date November 15, 2007

MUJI SOHO opens at 12:00 noon on November 16, 2007. If you didn’t know about this its not too late to get in line. I think I speak for all my Gamil family when I say, I have a love/conflicted relationship with creating products. The conflict resides in a pursuit of the authentic. While we continue to pursue sustainability in our work, a hungry mass-market favors consumption and we struggle with business models that sometimes beg for the newest rather than the greatest. MUJI has continued to define a model that I envy. Products that speak for themselves! They never put MUJI on the products or publicise the often noteworthy designers. Simple, rational, honest design that you need to want…look out IKEA.

Stumble it!

Something else awesome - MUJI is giving away free “My Bags” to the first 500 people who come to the store and shop on opening day. The “My Bag” is a sustainable shopping alternative to disposable bags, AND they’re gonna put a gift inside. Better get there fast.
