Inspired by contemporary art in India
December 1, 2007
In an ongoing quest to connect with our large audience from India, I looked up art galleries in Mumbai. One of the first links to come up steered me in an inspiring direction: Chemould Prescott Road, Contemporary Art Gallery. This gallery was opened in February, 2007, as “a branch of Gallery Chemould, one of India’s oldest (est 1963) leading contemporary art galleries.” It’s a spot I will visit should I ever have the opportunity. Here is a sampling of the art I I would love to see in real life:

Aditi Singh, Untitled, Charcoal and Ink on paper, 22×30in.

Jagannath Panda, “Avtaar,” Acrylic on canvas and fabric, 5×6 ft

N,S. Harsha, “White Shadow,” Cloth fixed to ground, 45×70 meters

Reena Saini Kallat, “Saline,” Marble on fabric, 10ft base diameter
I’d love to know of more inspiring art, design, or cool spots in India. Please send me your thoughts.
