A plastic-free supermarket aisle? Yes!
In Amsterdam, of course…
It’s the world’s first plastic-free supermarket aisle. Proclaiming not only that it’s possible, but committing to the necessity, Ekoplaza, a Dutch supermarket chain, is showcasing an aisle of over 700 plastic-free products like glass, metal, cardboard, and other biodegradable options.
In a similar vein, a shop in the UK called Earth.Food.Love. proclaims to be a “zero waste shop.”
Richard Eckersley acknowledges plastic is an amazing material, but proposes that it does not need to be used in single-use products or packaging of any kind and should be reserved for appropriate long-term use. He is such a believer that he shares his shop differentiator of being zero-waste, providing an informative document to help others set up shop with the same no-waste intentions. Check its awesomeness here.
